Careers+ has a focus on both privacy and data security. We recognize that the information being trusted and held by Careers+ is sensitive and it is treated as such. With user privacy and data security in mind we created the following Privacy Policy for our services and programs.

Our Commitment and Legal Obligation

Careers+ is committed to safeguarding the personal information entrusted to us by our clients, guests and website visitors. We manage your personal information in accordance with Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada’s Anti-Spam Laws (CASL) and other applicable laws. This policy outlines the principles and practices we follow in protecting your personal information. This policy applies to Careers+. The policy also applies to any person providing services on our behalf. A copy of this policy is provided to any clients, guests, and website visitors on request.

Careers+ has a focus on both privacy and security. We recognize that the information being held by Careers+ is sensitive and it is treated as such. With user privacy and security in mind we created the following principles for Careers+.

Careers+ collects only the personal information that is specifically authorized by law, or where the collection is necessary for the purposes of providing services and programs to our clients and guests. We collect personal information directly from you, unless another manner of collection is authorized by clients and guests or law, including personal information needed to:

  • open and manage a program or service  
  • deliver and administer requested programs or services  
  • enroll clients, guests or visitors in programs or services 
  • manage and conduct data gathering through surveys, polls and newsletters 
  • contact clients or guests about appointments, events, programs and services   
  • follow up with clients or guests to determine satisfaction with programs and services 
  • notify clients or guests of upcoming events, programs or services of interest  

Clients: If you choose to declare yourself as a client or submit materials and information in order to be considered for programs or services, we will register your information in our confidential tracking system (TS) database and may contact you regarding other opportunities in the future.

The information collected from you as a client, may include contact information (name, address, telephone number, email address); and other information reasonably linked to any educational services offered (preferences, choice of contact methods, etc.).

Please advise us in writing if you do not wish to have your information saved. We respect the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information and appreciate your agreement in allowing us to collect, use, and disclose information that is incidental to processing your application.

We understand you may choose to refuse or withdraw consent to the collection, use and release of your personal information and you may notify us of this choice in writing by submitting a request to: hello@elevatingsuccess.ca and we will record and respect your choices. Please be aware that this may result in our inability to inform you of current and future opportunities.

Guests: As guests who have enrolled Careers+ for any services or programs, we will act in the capacity as a client during the course of service we provide and any information or data gathered in the context of the services we deliver will be subject to the conditions outlined in this privacy policy and to the privacy laws and any applicable laws of Canada.

We inform our clients and guests, before or at the time of collecting personal information, of the purposes for which we are collecting the information. However, we don’t provide this notification when clients or guests volunteers information for an obvious purpose (for example, producing a credit card for an in-store purchase when the information will be used only to process the payment).

Where express consent is needed, we will ask client and guests to provide their consent verbally (in person, by telephone), in writing (by signing a consent form, by checking a box on a form, or electronically by clicking a button).

We will respect your decision, but we may not be able to provide you with certain programs and services if we do not have the necessary personal information.

How Do We Use and Disclose Your Information?

We use and disclose client and guest personal information only for the purposes for which the information was collected, except as authorized by law or you. For example, we may use client and guest contact information to deliver programs or services.

From time to time, we use third party service providers to deliver some of our services and programs. We share with these service providers only that information which is required to perform our services, and each service provider is required by contract to abide by the Privacy laws of Canada, the United States of America (USA) and European Union to secure the information we provide.

As a requirement of providing our services, from time to time we will store and process your personal information in Canada or in the USA, using USA based third party service providers in accordance with the privacy laws governing Canada and the USA.

The law also allows us to use that contact information for the purpose of collecting a debt owed to our organization, should that be necessary. If we wish to use or disclose your personal information for any new business purpose, we will ask for your written consent. We will not share your personal information with any other third parties without your written consent, unless required by law or a duly authorised legal process, such as a court order.

How Do We Safeguard Your Information?

Careers+ takes every reasonable effort to ensure that client and guest information is accurate and complete. We rely on clients and guests to notify us if there is a change to their personal information that may affect their relationship with our organization. If you are aware of an error in our information about you, please let us know and we will correct it on request wherever possible.

In some cases, we may ask for a written request for correction.

We protect client and guest personal information in a manner appropriate for the sensitivity of the information. We make every reasonable effort to prevent any loss, misuse, disclosure or modification of personal information, as well as any unauthorized access to personal information.

We will notify the Office of Privacy Commissioner of Canada, without delay, of a security breach affecting personal information if it creates a real risk of significant harm to individuals.

We retain client and guest personal information only as long as is reasonable to fulfil the purposes for which the information was collected or for legal or business purposes.

We render client and guest personal information non-identifying or destroy records containing personal information once the information is no longer needed. We destroy personal information records within 24 months of our program or service completion.

We use appropriate security measures when destroying client and guest personal information, including shredding paper records and permanently deleting electronic records.

Access to Records Containing Personal Information

Clients and guests of Careers+ have a right of access to their own personal information in a record that is in our custody or under our control, subject to some exceptions. For example, organizations are required under the Freedom of Information and Protection Privacy Act and Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act to refuse to provide access to information that would reveal personal information about another individual.

Organizations are authorized under the Act to refuse access to personal information if disclosure would reveal confidential business information. Access may also be refused if the information is privileged or contained in mediation records.

If we refuse a request in whole or in part, we will provide the reasons for the refusal. In some cases where exceptions to access apply, we may withhold that information and provide you with the remainder of the record.

Our safeguards include the use of security software and encryption protocols and involve physical, technical and procedural controls to protect information behind the firewall.

We maintain the security of your personal information through access control, logical security (security of applications, hardware and data), and physical security of our facilities. In addition, we strive to keep your personal information accurate through processes and policies that maintain the accuracy of recorded information.
